My exchange is coming to an end in August, so I’m quitting my part-time job this Wednesday. It’s a big relief - I’m going to need as much time as I can get to get ready for exams, pack my bags, etc. but it’s also a little sad. Although I’d only been working there for 4 months, the Japanese staff were very kind (and also very pretty), my co-workers helped the hours go by with their dry, British humour and I’d gotten quite attached to some of the students (tomboy Yumi, Youko & Reiko, Miwa, even the middle school kid Kei, who turned out to be a pretty good kid, adorable Maki-chan, the Big Bang fan Moe …).
In any case, I went out with some of (the younger) co-workers for goodbye drinks yesterday. One of my co-workers’ fiancee joined us halfway through (super good guy. I want to marry him ;_;). We ended up going to a bar in 二条 and drinking with some of my co-workers other friends, one of whom reminded me of one of the better-looking students at the school, and another who reminded me of one of the guys I used to work with at the ski resort (who I had a pretty big crush on), which put me in an rather reticient mood for the rest of the evening :T Got driven home at around 2.30 and was amazed to see people still jogging around the Imperial palace.
Woke up amazingly un-hungover this morning, and even managed to get to my 9 am class on time, go shopping with my friend in 三条・四条, then rush back to school in time for 5th period. But I couldn’t shake the mood from last night. The Sound of Settling was playing in the back of my mind the whole time.
