I’d take Osaka over Tokyo any day. Unlike most of the other exchange students (and a lot of non-Kansai Japanese students), I didn’t use the Osaka dialect, fearing people would think I was trying too hard. (This kind of backfired… a lot of people assumed I just didn’t understand and went out of their way to use Tokyo dialect with me instead.) But I miss hearing it. It’s kind of rough - the intonation with 何で？ in particular will always get me - but I also felt it was somehow more genuine and friendly than Tokyo dialect.
